Thank you for all of the feedback, the good and the bad. The main sentiment was this game was extremely fun but it would be nice to make comps feel a bit more important. After meditating on it for hours, I believe I have a game changing solution!

Please do a test run. Only for comp flops like myself so we can all experience it without any fear of running into arena heads. That will eat us alive like they usually do.
