especially to Europe and for a couple of months, what's your packing strategy? Eg. do you take a suitcase, backpack, both?

I went to europe for a month and took my big tote purse, backpack, and large suitcase. I need my stuff lmao. But I also wasn't moving too much... over the course of 4 weeks i was only in 3 different countries/hotels so it wasn't bad at all.

If you are going to be moving around a lot, and there for a while then a backpack with essentials usually. You can pick up what you need along the way if you really are missing something, and it also leaves more potential to pick some things up along the way. If you are staying in one specific location ie, one city will be your home base, from the same room, hostel, or hotel, then bring a suitcase and pack heavier. However, if you are moving about a lot, you don't want the suitcase, she will nuke you.

koolness234 Agree with this, unless it's like weeks at a time somewhere. I still think a suitcase would be beneficial if you have a hotel etc to park at for extended periods of time

you’d get by on a backpack if you travel lightly but if you needed a little more i’d take a suitcase i’d take a backpack of say 75-80L and then a suitcase of like 20-30L

Doom Whenever I try to pack lightly it ends up not being light. Idk why but I'll take like 6 shirts, 3 pants and a pair of shoes and all of a sudden I'm carrying an anvil on my back.

Sin make sure you get a back with a waist strap cause that’s where a predominant amount of the weight will go into (a chest strap too but 9/10 times it’ll have one if it has a waist), it couldn’t hurt to take a smaller suitcase just in case but backpacking wise i don’t think you’d need a whole ton

Kind of depends on who you are as a person and how long you're going for but I found that I was able to get around in a backpack for 2 months when I did it! There's lots of places to do laundry and really you just need the essentials anyways. They have these new mini suitcases on amazon that are soooooooo good and have an automatic vacuum sealer in them and it shrinks down your luggage a ton.

A small suitcase and a backpack usually. And I vacuum seal the shit out of everything. It’s a science LOL
