Just in general

Autism discourse is so toxic, acting like the world is going to pause every time you get overwhelmed or lack the skills to navigate the situation you're in. I'm autistic, I get it, but the world doesn't stop for anyone and if that's your expectation in life you're not going to make it.

That's how I feel when people who have ADHD say time blindness. LIKE I HAVE ADHD AND I AM ON TIME FOR WORK WDYM

koolness234 not all ADHD individuals experience time blindness..

PGamer you can mitigate time blindness by get this....... checking your phone! The less aware you are of time, the more often you should check the clock to resync your sense of time

Arizona actually the phone is worse for me.. it’s a huge distractor and i get distracted easily, time away from my phone helps with time blindness so i can stay focused on the task at hand. and most of the time it’s nothing even checking the time can fix. it’s innate procrastination and putting things off until the end. i would know because i have ADHD but others have it severely. just don’t act like a know it all…

PGamer I agree that time blindness is real and I'll give people a few strikes for it, but there are so many workarounds that if it's a pattern with no improvement I won't tolerate chronic lateness due to time blindness

PGamer sorry but time blindness is no excuse to be late in the professional world and I have time blindness, I just have to give myself so much ample time to get ready to depart

koolness234 yes i agree, it’s important to plan earlier in advance to work around it

PGamer still not an excuse. I get it pretty badly on my days off, but I mitigate it by being intentionally early on days its needed. We still need to be responsible for our own outcomes without excuses.

i feel like its not an excuse but should be acceptable as an explanation. neurodivergency works different for everyone on the spectrum needed that has a diagnosis and it depends on that how well you’re able to handle it. taking accountability is important, but it’s also an acceptable explanation imho and not an excuse

melanie it's acceptable as an explanation once or twice, but when people keep making the same exact mistakes with no noticeable effort to change anything that means they never wanted to change it

Oh definitely, this is so true. I've found medication has worked wonders for me.
