some of my favs in the last like 1-2 years:
survival/base building: rust (PVE servers), satisfactory (also great if you like automation), planet crafter was SO FUN one of my favs!, raft super fun about 20ish hours of gameplay, grounded, valheim (massive game, felt too overwhelming to me), lightyear frontier (similar to planet crafter/satisfactory i really enjoyed this one), lots of people loved once human but i didnt really give it a proper chance, i just started "the alters" and im loving it so far
looter/shooter: arc raiders, tarkov (PVE), borderlands 4 (very fun!), the division 2, the first descendant, sea of thieves
simulators: ranch sim, palia (base building and crafting parts too), house flipper, stardew valley/disney dreamlight valley (its super popular but i didnt like it, not my style),
fun co-ops if you have friends to play with: plate up, it takes 2, split fiction, a way out, operation tango, + any of the survival games i mentioned
fun games you can just jump on for a few rounds and not need to invest tons of hours: fortnite, overwatch, league TFT, rocket league, party animals, dead by daylight
