Is the Mission pointless

In Season 4 I noticed a more significance in importance of them with shields and deciding who is up for murder. Before it was just raising money with little shields. Raise the stakes a bit more which I did like.

The purpose of them is sometimes they effect who dies in the night if they are able to grab shields or something...Thats really it besides like a casket challenge or something which might mean someone dies in the night lol
