This week I wanted to show a completely different side! I’m known as the model who’s serves fierce face 24/7! This photoshoot gave me the freedom to show my fun playful side! Welcome back!!! 🍭 This week on #DNTM4, Dimitra asked for fun vibrant and colorful candyland photos. Some of these have left a very sour taste my mouth. A few of you managed to balance high fashion with playful energy! As you know, all opinions are my own.. please take with a pinch of salt. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👢 The High Flops (Scores 7-10) 👢 Vanili - Flop Rating 9.8 Girllll.. no. If we look at your previous photos, they were so editorial and packed with meaning. This, however, is a complete miss - I am so sorry. It looks like you're modelling for a children's TV show, it's very beginner level. Her head looks disproportionately massive for the body, the pose is weirdly twisted, and that tutu completely distorts your frame. It shatters the entire high fashion illusion. Such a shame. Antog - Flop Rating 9 I am just not a fan of this. It looks incredibly cheap and way too costumey. I really wish you had popped that bubble in her mouth and forgotten all about it, it's honestly so off putting. I also dislike the hair styling, and that stick she is holding should be touching the ground to make sense structually. On the plus side, I do love the corset of your outfit and the gummy bears surrounding you, but the execution of the rest drags it way down.. too much going on, little to no sense. Marquis - Flop Rating 7 Okay, we finally lost the hair. I actually do enjoy the storytelling here and the different approach you took. Your face looks ok. However, I'm not sold on the outfit. The styling is starting to feel a bit repetitive and I think everyone would love to see you try something new. More importantly, the prompt explicitly asked for fun and vibrant, but this is total doom and gloom. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚖️ The Mid Tier Flops (Scores 4-6) ⚖️ LeQuishaQ - Flop Rating 6.5 I definetly prefer your previous work over this. It's hitting a very cheesy note but hey the prompt did ask for fun, and it is entertaining to look at. I like the storytelling with the goo on the shoe, but I am not a fan of the expression on your face. To be honest, the gummy bear taking the photo steals the spotlight and becomes the main focus. I really wanted YOU to be the one shining here. Fancy - Flop Rating 6 Okay, I like this. It's something totally different and it tells a clear story. The skin texture always bothers me but I know it is AI's doing, it looks very reptiley.. I guess it blends out well enough with the veins. I like the face art here, but the image just doesn't look very "model".. Your model needed to give us way more expression. Right now, it doesn't look like a fashion campaign or anything I would see in a magazine.. just a DJ promoting his DJ set at a gay club. tjamal9106 - Flop Rating 5.5 I wouldn't really call this outfit colourful, except from the trousers I guess. I like the low angle but I don't really think it actually adds anything substantial to the final composition, apart from trying to do something different for no reason. Your face look okay, but it definitely could have been stronger. It's not a bad attempt, just a bit middle of the road for me. MissMiranda - Flop Rating 5 Visually, it's nice to look at. The styling leans a bit cheap and I'm not really a fan of you being tied to a tree. On the plus side, the hair flows beautifully and is easily the best part of the photo. Your face card is impeccable! It's a decent shot, but the execution holds you back. Melanie - Flop Rating 4.7 I like this. You went for something that stands out and took a genuine risk, which I do appreciate. My critique is that you can leaned into it more, made it grungier and messier. The icing is smeared all over your face, yet the cake you're holding looks entirely perfect. You look great, but I wish we could see a bit more of the outfit. Also, your eyes look ever-so-slightly crossed here. These are all minor points on an otherwise good attempt. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 👑 The Safe Zone (scores 0-3.9) 👑 Zee_ - Flop Rating 3.8 Love this! The hair is such an absolutely slay on you. I'm not seeing a massive amount of candy in shot, but it's definitely there if you look. The face card is lethal, I'm obsessed. Just a warning, it's always a risk doing "one leg out" pose because if you stare too long, it starts to look like your model only has one leg. A tiny glimpse of the other leg would have perfected this. apart from that, a great effort. GuiltyAsSin - Flop Rating 2.5 Now this IS fashion! It's the perfect blend of a fun theme and a high-fashion shoot. While some of the other girls came looking a little too camp and costume-y, you kept it at the exact right level. The serious face/out there outfit compliments each other perfectly. Plus, you're one of the only girls who actually followed the prompt by wearing a genuinely colourful outfit. Manon - Flop Rating 2 This is a really interesting image to look at, and by far your strongest photo so far. I love the idea and the creative concept behind it. The pose is great, and while the face could have been a tiny bit stronger, the overall result is good. Marilise - Flop Rating 1 Okay elegance. you went for a truly classy look, which I think is a million times better than going down the deep, cartoony route. Your face is drop-dead gorgeous and I am in love with the texture of that dress. It might be a little bit too safe, but it works. Love it. SpaceLab - Flop Rating 0.8 This is GREAT. It has so much power, and I could easily see this as the front cover of a major fashion magazine. I love the outfit, It's simple, but it completely works for the shot. If I had to nitpickm you perhaps could have added a tiny pop of colour to elevate the outfit, but overall? WOW! CupidStunt - Flop Rating 0.5 This is MAJESTIC and FUN! You look absolutely incredible, I am obsessed with your model's face here, the expression is effortless but it's still serving. The way the hair looks untouched but is waving against the wind..... breathtaking. Everything about this shot is stunning to look at, from the details to the styling. #DNTM4 Overall this week had some great shot, but I was overwhelmed by the amount of pink focused images there were. I don't want to see pink in next week's shoot lol. Alright here are my thoughts! MissMiranda Pose: 7 Face: 6 Styling: 5 Composition: 8 Overall this is a cute photo. Your background has some cute details that really make it feel like a Candyland. For your pose, I think if you had bent the arm that is holding the rope it would have added a bit more to the pose (would have loved the rope to look more like licorice, though it sort of does). The face is good but looks a little dazed. The styling I scored low because although you followed the brief it lost some of the high fashion editorial elements to it. I like the corset part, but the full on rainbow train with all of the other colors going on in the background is just a bit too much. It also got over AI textured along with some other areas of the photo. Good job overall just a few minor things here. Total: 6.5 Tjamal9106 Pose: 8 Face: 7 Styling: 7 Composition: 7 Good shot. I like the angle of the photo and I like that it doesn’t overwhelm us with too many colors. You picked a theme of colors and played in that space so it stayed balanced. The face is good but maybe could have given us more from the eyes. On the close up they look alright but on the wide shot I can’t see any whites of your eyes so they look closed. IDK if that is just an upload issue though. My only other comment would be I wish you had used oversized candy. The candy mostly looks normal sized besides the sucker you are holding. Overall good job. Total 7.25 Manon Pose: 8 Face: 7 Styling: 8 Composition: 7 I like this photo. IT fits the brief clearly but still doesn’t overwhelm us. The chocolate river was so smart because it creates a big base of neutral color to mute out the rainbow of colors going on so they stand out but you didn’t have to overdo it. The pose is good because there s tension in the right places in your body and you are giving us that neck! The dress is great because it fits the brief but also stays more on the fashion side of things. I do wish you would have cropped us a bit closer I know you got that feedback last week from the judges last week. In this case you could have just taken this exact photo and just cropped it using your phone photo app and probably elevated the composition score a lot by doing a little. Good work overall. Total: 7.5 Vanili Pose: 5 Face: 6 Styling: 7 Composition: 4 I see the effort, and I understand the concept. I think some of the judges will not like this concept, but I actually do like it, but it missed the mark in execution for me. For one the back leg is getting cut off, and to make this photo work I needed SOMETHING from the legs. I Get ballerina but its too on the nose. Remember you are a model pretending to be a ballerina, so I would have liked a bit more shape from the pose. The movement is great, but I don’t believe it since you are stick straight. I like the face because it matches the brief energy, and the blurred background saves you because otherwise it would be too commercial. But its ok to smile/laugh in an editorial image that doesn’t instantly make it commercial, you just have to have other editorial elements which you did try for. Overall I just think this needed more polish to it for it to work. Total: 5.5 Zee_ Pose: 8 Face: 6 Styling: 9 Composition: 5 I like the idea and the movement in the pose is great. I wish I could see your back leg even a little bit. I wish you had done a bit more with the face to more match the energy of the swing. That shoe is GORG and the dress overall is also SO GOOD. Now, I struggled with how to score the rest of this photo, because the overall composition of this photo is fairly good, but instead of giving you a 1 point overall penalty for brief infraction, I just lowered the composition. The reason is although I see some candy, the rest is giving too much jewel for this photo and it lacks the oversized nature to make it fit completely. I’m not sure how the real judges will interpret it. I personally LIKE that you didn’t overwhelm us with the candy, but it could have been a bit more prevalent in the photo overall in small ways. Maybe the pole in your hand having a hooked end to make it more candy cane, or maybe part of the outfit including a candy inspiration with the shape or material. Idk. Overall I like this shot, but I do think there is some risk with the brief. Total: 7 Marilise Pose: 7 Face: 6 Styling: 9 Composition: 5 I’m conflicted about this photo. I’ll start with the great parts which for me is the outfit. Although I am not a fan of this material usually, for this shoot it works because it looks like a melted jolly rancher shaped into a great dress and it is very well executed. The pose overall is decent, but you lose that back arm. It’s not really doing anything and could have been used to give us a slightly better angle of your body. I feel like with you so far in the competition your body has been like 80% perfect but then you forget about one small section and for some reason my eye goes straight to that one small point. For the composition of the photo, I like that the pallet is cohesive in a pastel pallet, and that you didn’t overwhelm us with tons of candy. Less is definitely more and you picked a theme and stuck to it so I like that a lot. The reason I lowered the comp score is because there’s something off about the balance of this photo. The towers being straight and tall, and the model being relatively straight and tall there are no interesting angles that catch my eye. The candy in your hand is good, and I wish there was a bit more of that angle happening. Maybe you back leg could have been exaggerated more so like your heal would be placed where that other piece of candy was. Or maybe you holding a purse made of candy out in front of you with the other arm? I would normally say it’s a minor thing but for some reason in this photo it really feel like it needs those details to hop of the page. Total: 6.75 Marquis Pose: 8 Face: 8 Styling: 8 Composition: 4 Very strong face, very high fashion pose and use of the wind for the cape, and overall the styling is good. The problem is with the execution of the photo. It got WAY too over processed with AI bubs and you gave us A LOT to look at with the background and yet it didn’t give us enough contrast between the background and the outfit. I think if you told the AI to do about 40% less with the background, and to smooth out the AI texture patterns, this photo would have been one of my favorites of the season. Total: 7 LeQuishaQ Pose: 8 Face: 8 Styling: 8 Composition: 6 This was a really smart photo. You took the opportunity of the brief to do something different and it works really well. The outfit being made of what appears to be candy is also super smart because you still made it look very fashion forward. Picking a color pallet with only 2 colors was also smart. There does seem to be slight proportion issues with the face/body I think, but very minor. The composition score is lower than the rest just because things got a little over processed and it might have helped to not have the pink tone in at least the sky to create a bit more balance. Also, the bear with the camera? Idk. Overall this is one of my favorites of the week for sure! Total: 7.5 GuiltyAsSin Pose: 7 Face: 7 Styling: 9 Composition: 8 This is how you do a candy outfit. I wish the pose had given us a bit more angle, a little hip action, or the arm on the right not resting on the dress but doing something like grabbing one of the candy canes or holding something would have created a little more angle and interaction with the set. The face is there but could do more. I actually had to go back and check your make over cuz I thought wait this looks like it’s always been her hair, so you got really lucky with the make over because this is so your look. Such a good photo just a bit more angle and smize and you would be top photo for sure! Total: 7.75 Melanie Pose: 7 Face: 9 Styling: 6 Composition: 8 I know how hard you worked on this and I think it shows. You stepped out of your comfort zone and that shows as well. The pose could maybe have been tilting a bit more so the body looked a bit longer and so we could see more of the outfit. The styling score is low because I do think the outfit itself could have been a bit more high fashion. Since we can’t see much of it you could have gone with something even more out there. I do like that the skirt looks like it is made of candy wrappers, but it could have been executed a bit better. To me the face is the main focus of the photo though and it is so well done. Secy, but not too sexy, and somehow looks pretty even with the frosting all over your face. This hair is your look don’t go back to blonde! Total: 7.5 SpaceLab Pose: 8 Face: 7 Styling: 6 Composition: 5 I like the pose and interaction with the set. The face is good but because of the camera angle when you look direct into the camera you lose your neck. I personally do not like the styling, but I removed my personal taste because it isn’t bad styling. The composition is where you lose it for me because you didn’t really pick a theme. It kind of looks like 5 different concepts threw up onto the page and you went with it. I would have liked to see this simplified a bit and then leaned into one or two of the details more. Total: 6.5 CupidStunt Pose: 8 Face: 8 Styling: 5 Composition: 8 This is one of those photos that I am glad I rank things in isolation. Overall I personally do not like this photo, but it has great elements to it. The pose is great and exciting, the face is pretty striking, and the overall composition feels balanced. I just really do not like the coloring of the photo. There is SO much going on and its just not giving high fashion editorial for me. There are for sure good elements of the styling, like the shoe choice which is gorg, and the dress shape is nice, but it would have worked better for me if it wasn’t a rainbow color pallet. Total: 7.25 Antog Pose: 7 Face: 6 Styling: 8 Composition: 8 I enjoy this photo because you picked a theme and stuck to it. Bubble gum comes through in a lot of elements and the little servant bears are a nice touch. I wish you had given us more with the eyes, because when you do a gimmick with the bubble gum you lose part of the face, and the eyes look a bit glossed over. I also wish it was a bit more clear you were sitting on the chair, but otherwise the pose if great. I love the details of the hands and angles you create. Total: 7.25 Fancy Pose: 7 Face: 8 Styling: 7 Composition: 6 Overall I can get behind this photo. I like that you picked a theme and designed around that. I do think you over did it a bit and could have simplified the background details/color pallet to be more pleasing to the eye. Your face is great even with the candy it still comes through strongly. The arms look buff but oddly short? I think with a different color pallet I would enjoy the photo more, but since the theme was good I scored it well overall.
