I know everyone has been making one, but i wanted to aswell just lay out my thoughts on the different aspects of the royale game. Obviously theres been mixed reviews on it, i wanna highlight what I think are the good and bad parts of the game. Also wanna try to explain how the game was during beta so maybe non players can have some constructive critism for themselves and help Sin create the best game possible for everyone going foward.
1.Combat (Attacking Vs Offensive Items)
-Attacking
Im gonna be frank, with the current state if you want to come into this game and brainlessly jerk out an 18k holey score to get everyone out of the game you will be disappointed. This is Kovaze Royale, NOT Tengaged Hunger games. Im not discussing here about about wether this type of combat is or is not flawed, but right now Attacking someone has the only use of trapping someone in a location. When you attack someone, you cannot run or move from your location and you get a like a 5% bonus to your attack. The defender CAN however run whenever they want, and can still use items. If you do not mix this attack with the items youve found around the map and the defender is not a moron, you will not win the fight and you will get stalled out in a location. Being able to move around the map in this game is broken, this is how you talk and meet new people, build trust, and find items. As far as i know, this is something that will be reworked going foward, but the idea stays the same. This is not a game where you can only gamebot comps, items will always be avaliable for social players to outplay you, and this will be the case as long as items exist.
For reference if you win the fight you get 30 health, if you run you lose 10 and the attacker gets no health (which is also something that needs to change). If you kill someone, you get their items. My point is that, while attacking needs to be slightly buffed, playing smart is how you will actually win this game.
-Offensive Items
You have an arsenal of weapons that can pop around the map (with an undisclosed rate). These can attack a singular person, or an entire location. How you use them is for you to be creative with. This is basically a complex version of rowing someone out, and after playing for 3 days i think the items themselves are balanced. What is not balanced is however is how you get items, or at least the rate of each item popping up. How we get items has to have a more solid method than just hoping you find them around the map, when i move around the map i want to have reason to move. I want to know if i go to a specific location, there will be something about that specific location that can increase my odds or increase my firepower, giving me an upperhand. This also increases the odds of enemies running into each other and fighting, and it will prevent people from hiding the whole game and having a luck streak of bombs and med kits leading into the end game.
The mixture of how attacking works, alongside the inconsistency in finding weapons is why the the deaths were really slow in the mid game and why this game has taken longer than it probably should have. Also just like the social dynamics of the cast, but it was mostly the combat.
Right now the weapons are the Rows (1 to 5 health), Kunai (5 health), Sniper (5 health and can be used to a different location), Electric Wire (10 health and 25 stamina to every single person in a location and it hits you aswell) Bomb (10 health to everyone in a location, and hits you but you can use it from a different tile unlike the electric wire) And Poison berries which you can give to someone and if they eat it they will die instantly but it was glitched this game so it was useless kinda. People just used it to suicide so they wouldnt get their items snatched by their killer.
2. Social Game (Alliances, Showmances, Premades, Exchange of Items, and That damn spectator chat)
This might be a bit inconclusive, we spun a wheel to get in this game and alot of people happened to still be well connected. This caused like 3 premade main alliances running around. However besides that, this is an extreme social game. You will not make it far if you do not have connections, you rarely can kill by yourself if your enemy again is not a moron. The best way to kill people is to LITERALLY coordinate a sneak attack. Even within premades, they will have to be social to survive and get attacks off.
Also this game is a slow game and a fast game mixed into one. Unlike tengaged hunger where you could hide from the corn, anyone can find you at a location at like 4am and start beating your ass while you dream about race wins. You need to have people that will protect you while you are busy unless you want to stare at your screen for 24 hours.
And I know alot of people are afraid of premades, but i honestly think this game has too many players for that to be a major issue. I think the enrollment should all be like a draw kind of like how he did it in the stream, but like automated like a raffle i suppose. And even if a premade manages to get through, honestly The premades NEED to work with other people too or they wont get far at all. And with big alliance chats and mutual friends, you already know theres already gonna be a rat leaking shit for no reason. This is the perfect game for chaos.
An update that really needs to happen is how exchanging items work. Right now we can only exchange food, med kits, food poison berries, and i think rope. Being able to give your allies damaging weapons is an update that needs to happen, as some people with their current stats cannot reach certain places. It again just adds to the complexity on how you can play this game.
On top of that, theres the spectator chat, this needs to be reworked or removed. The entire game the players saw what convos people were having or what anyone was doing by going into incongnito and pasting the game. And this was very cruical to finding out where people were or who was working together.
My opinion overall is.. this game is fun as a social game. Its not like the other social games and its very unique. Im always open to working with new people normally but this FORCED me to work with people i've never worked with to get as far as i did.
3. Survivability (Stamina Locations, Strats, and Survival/Defensive Items)
There is 50 contestants, and 25 locations. You have max 100 stamina and it takes 20 stamina to go from one location, to a location adjacent to you (No Diagonals) The EYE (the corn) (Kemi) is at the center of the grid. Each location is supposed to spawn randomly each game and they are all undiscovered. Its up to you to go around the grid and map out the arena. Right now besides being kinda iconic, there is nothing special about each location but i think making them have special attributes will really help the game. Like i said prior, there is no incentive for afk people to do anything besides stay in one area of the map and HOPE to get lucky. It should NOT be this way.
The Defensive items are KovazeBees, Teleport, and Rope.
Rope removes 50 stamina from a target, can be used agressively or defensively.
Teleport tp's you straight to a chosen location, can be used aggressively or defensively.
Kovazebees can be used in any location to make every single person in that location run away to different random locations. This is what you would use if you were getting jumped by numerous people, or you can use it if your ally is being jumped in a location.
The Survival Items are Food, Health Kits, and Energy Drinks
Energy drinks restores your stamina to 100, can be used agressively technically
Health kit gives you 20 health
Food gives you 10 hunger. Hunger deletes at a rate of .05 every minute. Once you reach 0 food, your health will go down by 1 every minute.
Food was almost a non factor until later on, where food became the main reason why everyone was struggling. The odds of getting food is not high enough and everyone was confidently starving in the mid and end game. I dont know if this is an issue yet, but it was very annoying to deal with and if it remains this way i recommend everyone to horde up on those food popups.
A big thing about moving is that stamina increased faster the more you had, so if i had 80 stamina i would get to 100 faster than if i had 0 stamina trying to get to 20. Thats why the normal strat was to move 1 time every single time you would get to 100 to find items, and then wait for it to recover. Unless you were tracking a bitch down or running away you did not need to hike around the entire map for no reason. You got to places faster by being slower with it and you didnt risk being stuck in a place with 0 stamina.
Okay thts all.
TL;DR: Get off that tiktok and learn to sit down and read a page. Its not that hard. and put on chapstick too.
