You add water by searching block #1, the one with the well, it takes 4 hours to collect water, it takes 1 hour to search anywhere else but it costs the tribe water if you search anywhere beside the well and the hotter temperature it is when you search the more water it takes but its the only way to find food that I'm aware of.
