I’m inclined to agree, but there’s also a difference between lust and love. It’s really complicated and I still think partners should aim to be as monogamous as possible, but there’s so much temptation and life, I imagine, can get really really mundane when you’re stuck being intimate with one person.
The problem with your argument is that you think there is only one kind of relationship and there isn't. They evolve just like most things. I say this as someone who is not interested in open relationships.

You can be committed to each other and also have sex with other people. It’s the same thing as having a friend, you emotionally match with them and share certain parts of your life, this is just the physical version
