bim The biggest issue with generative AI is job replacement, especially as a Computer Scientist, my field of work has been hit the hardest. It became near impossible to find work in recent years which is why I launched Kovaze and turned to freelancing. Ironically, companies are now realising that AI slop can't replace good code. As someone who is also extremely protective of the environment, the environmental impact of AI is often exaggerated. To my understanding (and I could be wrong so please fact check me), a lot of the water used to cool down AI systems never heats up to the point of evaporation, which means they can continue to recycle the same water. Things like meat production, aviation, and even video streaming services like Youtube are vastly larger burders on the evironment. According to what I've researched, Transportation (Cars/Planes) and Diet (Meat Heavy) make up 50% of the average persons carbon footprint, and generative AI makes up less than 1%. I'm all for making the world a greener place but generative AI is so far down the list of what is actually destroying our planet (in terms of what an individual person can contribute, don't even get me started on the billionaires that are siphoning our planets resources by the day)

Tagging Kallie for discussion purposes, I love hearing other people's perspectives on this 😊

Sin the issue with ai that i see atleast environmentally is from personal experiences and reports done from people who live near ai data centers and how that impacts them. the blog i made previously discusses this more in depth as well! i also think generative ai (like mentioned) really replaces things like the need for talented artists and computer scientists. i also wanted to ask if the ai usage on the site (thumbnails for games, shops & backgrounds) will be changed EVER or at any point soon? Sin i think i heard (tell me if im wrong im new) that you were looking into hiring or finding volunteers for artists to replace those images! i know its not easy as a lot of them cover the website and its a lot of work (especially if hiring just one person) but i think getting rid of it would help the website succeed more. i made my account in november but didnt start being active due to seeing the clearly generated ai images. i think it makes the website look bad & definitely drives away players & monetization. Sin tldr: a few chatgpt prompts wont kill the planet but actively using it on a daily basis not only does cause harm environmentally but also causes such an intensive domino effect on so many talented people and only benefits the 1%

Kallie I've been wanting to replace them for some time, they were always inteded as placeholders. Bagel held an art contest a few months ago but we didn't get any submissions. My current position is that I want to uplift the UI/UX first, and change the art afterwards to match the updated UI. Either I'll hire someone to do it or do it myself (I can draw quite well, but dev work has been taking up capacity)

you should apply and then make the food from scratch to submit
