More two cents and then I'll shut up

I think a lot of people miss why empathy is running thin. Most people aren't angry because someone prefers a different tax policy. They're angry because "other issues matter more" is often used to justify supporting politicians who target LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, women, and other marginalized groups. Is saying Republicans shouldn't be on a website extreme? Yeah, probably. But acting like people's frustration came out of nowhere is weird too. We've spent years being told to empathize with people who vote for politicians that make our lives harder, then get called intolerant when we're angry about it. At some point people stop seeing it as a disagreement over politics and start seeing it as a disagreement over whether they deserve the same rights and respect as everyone else.

Mom, i dont think the take is extreme as much as people might think i mean i prob wouldnt let a republican in my house, or even like 10 feet within my yard but in general its kind of hard to police ppl just existing around us. Unfortunately they are gonna exist regardless, all we can do is take action when action needs to be taken

Demanding empathy for a group of people who directly oppose who we are as people has always been a wild concept. Bigots deserve no grace as they give none to the groups they desperately try to oppress.

SpaceLab yeah I don't fully get it. Like I understand not ALL Republicans are transphobic etc but like...for the ones who aren't, why are they telling marginalized groups "you should be more tolerant/have some empathy!" And not like...saying those things to/about the politicians who are actively stripping away people's rights?
