Is it weird

Ravenheart 14 hours ago49 views

That I don’t want a relationship or anything like that? I’m 26 going on 27 in a couple months and I have always been more of a loner. I might be selfish but being alone (emotionally in the romantic sense but I still like being with friends) is where I’m happiest and I haven’t met someone to change that yet. I might just be happy living on my own forever if it comes to it. I’m curious as to what others thoughts are too- is a romantic relationship necessary? Is it “weird” to not have one?

Is it weird I or someone else don’t want to be in a relationship?

Definitely not weird at all!! It is so much better to be single and make sure YOU are in the best place possible instead of forcing yourself in a relationship and risk being someone who won’t make you happy. Also I see your other comments, and one of my biggest pet peeves is when people feel the need to rush you for stuff like this.

oh yeah with your background you are surrounded by people who make you feel like you are not normal for this probably, but it's not weird at all. You might change your mind sometime, but if you don't that is absolutely okay too.

Maybe you're aromantic, henny. Nothing weird about that!

jarhead honestly now that I look it up it could honestly be that. Thank you for that :)

I look at it like this. I wanted to be VERY happy single first. Career going well, mental heath going well, etc. before getting to share that all with someone. I only would share that all with someone who adds value to my life and then ideally the same in reverse.

Like when people say "this is my other half" I think like "I want to be a whole just by myself, and seek another person who is also whole, and we can be 1+1=2 rather than 1/2 + 1/2 = 1"

Goomybear I love your thoughts on that and I agree. I don’t think it’s good for anyone to be just a half of themselves in a relationship

Honestly not weird at all

jessiejedi I’m glad someone else thinks so! I grew up Mormon so a lot of people around me are like “why aren’t you getting married and multiplying and replenishing the earth” and I was wondering if it’s just a Utah thing (where I live) or something bigger
