[SERIOUS] Help me choose a job.
Hi friends, I need some advice/thoughts on whether I should stay at my current job or leave for a new opportunity. I’m going to list some details below. If there’s anything else I should maybe consider please let me know. Thank you to anyone who responds. <3
Pay: new job would be a base hourly pay cut of ~$3/hr, but has steady commission that would lead to about $10k more per year than I make now (my stepmom does the same job so I know commission is steady)
Schedule: current job varies a lot, work most weekends and hours typically between 9am-7pm; new job is set M-F 8:30am-5:30pm no weekends
Commute: current job is 20-30 min depending on traffic; new job is less than 10 min even with traffic
Career growth: no career growth at current job, it’s a dead end (my pay has only even gone up 0.38 cents in nearly 3 years I’ve been there); new job after 6 months I could apply for other departments with a lot of potential paths
Actual job duties: current job I schedule about 1,000 employees for their weekly schedules, and perform various HR duties; new job I’d be taking inbound calls and emails for purchasing products from the company (no cold calling and relatively low call volume, maybe 10 calls at most on a busy day) and then keying the orders into the sales system

Sounds like new job is much better overall
new one just based on hours alone. you wont be working your life away and probably making more money? yes 100%
Yeah I mean you didn’t list any real negatives so I would take the new job. It’s scary to do something new but it sounds like low risk high reward to me
i mean if your current job isn't serving you then i would say leave, job loyalty rewards are usually a myth and not something that genuinely matters to most bosses. i also think set hours are better personally, but some ppl like the spontaneity so it's really up to you on that. i'd say the new job is better overall for work/life balance
the way there were almost no negatives for the new one....baby take it
