She has a really lovely voice, and before this competition I had only heard her on that Jelly Roll song, so I was happy to get to hear more of her work. Sleep Token, you were the underdog this season, and honestly I hate that a double elimination landed on this round because I wanted to hear more. This was my favorite submission of the season, and it felt like things were only going to get better from here, but unfortunately two had to go. Once again this season, you will only be able to submit songs by the artist you are playing as. Lets get into results for the finale, no category just best submission Here are the songs submitted. Lady GagaVanish Submitted Vanish Into You SZA Gemini submitted Saturn And The Kid Laroi Lifeiscool submitted BABY I'M BACK Thank you to everyone who played this season. It was a really fun season and a tough finale, and you all submitted some strong song choices. I listened to each of them on my drive to my parents’ place and throughout my day today before making my final decision. So with that said, let’s get down to it. In Third Place The Kid Laroi, I gained a new respect for this artist this season. I had heard of him before, but I hadn’t really listened to his music much until now. For me, this song just ended up being my least favorite of the final submissions. The chorus especially didn’t land for me, as it felt a bit too sampled and didn’t hit in the way I hoped it would. That leaves us with Lady Gaga and SZA The next person eliminated is.... Lady Gaga, I ultimately knew this finale would come down to you and SZA. I was hoping your final song would grow on me, and it did, but not quite enough to beat Saturn. The chorus of Vanish Into You is definitely the standout moment, but that’s where it peaks for me. With Saturn, I find myself hooked from start to finish, which is something SZA consistently does really well as an artist. Congrats, SZA! You played extremely well this season. There was some tough competition, but you came out on top with some great picks near the end. Congratulations on a well-earned victory! Be on the lookout for Season 4 later for anyone who wants to play!

Lets get into results from last round, category was Best Collaboration Here are the results. In First Place with Telephone by Lady Gaga feat Beyonce Vanish In Second Place with Kiss Me More by Doja Cat feat SZA Gemini In Third Place with Stay by The Kid Laroi, Justin Bieber Lifeiscool In Fourth Place with 10 out of 10 by Oliver Heldens x Kylie Minogue SpaceLab In Fifth Place with no submission by Slayyter feat no one TheWoman TheWoman, I hope everything is okay, but the game has to move on. I waited all day for your submission, but since none was sent, I have to eliminate you this round. SpaceLab, it was really tough deciding between you and lifeiscool. Both songs had very catchy choruses, but I found myself going back to his submission more and felt it worked better overall as a collaboration. Theme : No Theme Due : 8PM EST Sunday (DOUBLE Elimination) For the final round, there is no theme. Simply submit the best song you think your artist has left that will win me over. Choose the strongest track remaining in your catalog and include a short sentence explaining why you chose it. You may mail me or comment your submission. Here’s the Google spreadsheet of previously submitted songs. I’ll continue updating it as we go. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mJaAtZIG8_AlzP2qef08pq4P6MOJhyN2XJMRDXAEKlI/edit?usp=sharing

Lets get into results from last round, category was Camp/Comedic Here are the results. In First Place with Big Boy by SZA Gemini In Second Place with Your Disco Needs You by Kylie Minogue SpaceLab In Third Place with Dog House by Slayyter TheWoman In Fourth Place with Donatella by Lady Gaga Vanish In Fifth Place with GIRLS by The Kid Laroi Lifeiscool In Sixth Place with Intrusive Thoughts by Grant Knoche and being eliminated this round is @Airi Airi, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Grant Knoche’s music throughout this competition. I think he has something special and makes very solid pop music. I did enjoy this song, but I struggled to see it fitting the Camp / Comedic theme as strongly as the others. Because of that, I’ve decided to eliminate it this round. Theme : Best Collaboration Due : 11AM EST Saturday (DOUBLE Elimination) For this round, choose the best collaboration your artist has done. Your artist can either be the main artist featuring someone else, or the featured guest on another artist’s track. Pick the song you feel best fits the category and include a short sentence explaining why you chose it. You may mail me or comment your submission. This round will be a double elimination before the finale, so bring your strongest submission. Here’s the Google spreadsheet of previously submitted songs. I’ll continue updating it as we go. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mJaAtZIG8_AlzP2qef08pq4P6MOJhyN2XJMRDXAEKlI/edit?usp=sharing

Eliminating Ariana was a difficult choice, Felicity, but this song just never really picked up for me, and I couldn’t find myself fully getting into it compared to the others. Theme : Camp/Comedic Due : 10PM EST Thursday (Single Elimination) For this round, choose a song by your artist that is playful, over-the-top, humorous, or intentionally campy. In First Place with Purr by Slayyter TheWoman In Second Place with Zombieboy by Lady Gaga Vanish In Third Place with Butterfly by Kylie Minogue SpaceLab In Fourth Place with God is a Woman by Ariana Grande is Felicity In Fifth Place with Doves in the Wind by SZA Gemini In Sixth Place with Cry Wolf by Grant Knoche @Airi In Seventh Place with Bleed by The Kid Laroi Lifeiscool In Eighth Place with run for the hills by Tate McRae Melanie Melanie, you have been eliminated this round. While the song captures heartbreak well, I didn’t see a clear connection to the animal theme compared to the other submissions. Theme : Underrated Song Due : 4PM EST Wednesday (Single Elimination) For this round, choose a song by your artist that you believe deserved more attention than it received. This could be a track that was overlooked, underappreciated, or overshadowed by bigger hits. Pick the song you feel best fits the category and include a short sentence explaining why you chose it. Ever since it was done on Glee, it’s been hard for me to separate it from that version. Bruno’s original is definitely better and his voice makes it work, but the song itself has just never been one of my favorites. MissChloeKay, I just couldn’t really get into your song this round compared to the others. It had a mellow, electronic vibe that picked up at certain points, which I did appreciate, but overall it just didn’t pull me in the same way the other submissions did. Theme : Villain Energy Due : 11PM EST Friday (Single Elimination) For this round, submit a song that captures villain energy. This could be a song about betrayal, revenge, crime, power, or anything that gives off a dark or villainous vibe. You can also choose a song that feels like it could be a villain’s theme song. As a fellow stoner, I connected with their vibe and liked the beat they had going. That said, the other submissions this round were just a bit stronger overall. Theme : Falling in Love Due : 9PM EST Thursday (DOUBLE Elimination) For this round, choose a song by your artist that captures the feeling of falling in love. This could be the excitement of a new relationship, the butterflies of realizing your feelings, or the happiness that comes with finding someone special. However, I feel like this song missed the mark for the category, and I honestly was not the biggest fan of it either. She had already released four albums before this came out, so it doesn’t really feel like early career to me. While it did mark a shift in her sound, it felt more mid-career than a true beginning moment. Theme : Acoustic or Stripped Due : 9PM EST Tuesday (Single Elimination) For this round, choose an acoustic or stripped-down version of a song by your artist. This can be an official acoustic release, a live acoustic performance, or a version with minimal production. The focus this round is on vocals, lyrics, and raw delivery rather than heavy production. Here’s the Google spreadsheet of previously submitted songs. I’ll continue updating it as we go. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mJaAtZIG8_AlzP2qef08pq4P6MOJhyN2XJMRDXAEKlI/edit?usp=sharing

In some cases, that meant going with an artist that better matched my taste, or one I was less familiar with and wanted to learn more about. Now let's move on to the first round. Theme : Early Career Due : 6PM EST Monday (Single Elimination) For the first round, choose a song from early on in your artist’s career. This could be an early single, a track from their debut album, or a song that shows where they started before wider success. Pick the song you feel best fits the category and include a short sentence explaining why you chose it. You may mail me, discord or comment your submission, either is fine.

Lets get into results for the finale, category is career-defining song. Here are the songs submitted. Gemini submitted Umbrella by Rihanna LEXEY submitted All Too Well by Taylor Swift SpaceLab submitted Thank U Next by Ariana Grande This was SUCH a tough finale, and I had to listen to each song multiple times. In the end, I had to decide who fit the theme best and whose song I personally enjoyed the most. In third place SpaceLab SpaceLab, while I loved this song and do think it helped define her career, I feel other work had a stronger impact. Dangerous Woman really launched her pop career and marked her full break away from Nickelodeon. That era was packed with bangers and felt more career-defining overall. That leaves us with two finalists… Gemini and LEXEY The person walking away with a gift of their choice is… Gemini with Umbrella by Rihanna Gemini, I feel like you truly understood the assignment and had the strongest song for this category. Umbrella really put Rihanna on the map and is still one of her most recognizable songs. I still think about that lip sync battle, and even all these years later, when the beat drops, it’s just as catchy and good. While I love All Too Well, I’m not sure it fully defines her career. If anything, the ten-minute version feels more career-defining at this point. That said, I’ll say it again, Taylor Swift has a way of putting experiences I’ve lived through into words, and that’s why I’ve always connected with her. That ability is exactly what makes All Too Well such a powerful song. Congratulations to Gemini, and thank you to all the contestants for playing in Season 2. Season 3 will be coming with some format changes to keep things fresh 🙂

Lets get into results from last round, category was Song Over 6 Minutes Here are the results. 1. Gemini - Dance For You by Beyonce 2. LEXEY - Dust Bowl by Ethel Cain 2. SpaceLab - Dear John (Taylor's Version) by Taylor Swift 4. PadamPadam - To Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra 5.JessieKowalski - throughfare by Ethel Cain So with that, Jessie and Padam, you have both been eliminated. This has been the toughest round yet. Jessie, I didn’t feel like your song really went anywhere, though I did enjoy her voice. Padam, I really liked your song and kept going back and forth between you and Lexey, but in the end I placed Lexey third because I liked it just a little more. Theme : Career-Defining Song Due : 9PM EST Friday (DOUBLE Elimination) For the final round, choose a song that you believe best defines an artist’s career. This should be the song that captures who they are, what they’re known for, or the moment that solidified their place in music.
