DNTM Season 2 Photo 8
I was looking forward to judging this photoshoot because I read the brief and there was a lot more room for creativity which means a lot more freedom for the models to make choices that could either make their photo stand out for good or bad reasons. Some of you nailed it, and others I think forgot this is a competition about modeling in the high fashion world.
Maris: overall I like the photo. Doing a doll theme is not suuuuuper creative in a shoot that had the most amount of creative freedom we have seen in a while, but it works. There has been a lot of poses this season the would be good if they just tilted a bit so we didn’t get a full shot up your skirt. That’s my only issue with this photo.
Jane: I like this photo. The hand on the glass is cute, but it bocks the arm leading to the hand almost completely so it kind of looks like it is floating there, if you had moved the hand slightly to the left of the picture you would have the same effect but also see a little arm too. Since your other arm is also not in the frame this would elevate the photo for me. The styling is good because the textures of the plushy toys conflict with the latex creating good contrast in the photo.
Brat: This is the second photo I have seen of yours that looks great but cropping and sizing are an issue. I think if you had zoomed us in a bit we could still see the city vibes, but more clearly see you as the focal point of the image. Also, your proportion is strange to me. You in proportion to the one big bear there are some inconsistencies there. The pose and styling are great though, it is probably enough to save the photo.
Medusaluh: another doll photo so slightly less impressed just because I expected something more from you. With that said, this is how you do a doll shoot. It stands far above the other doll like photos and is a step back in the right direction for you. The look is high fashion, even though you are crammed in a box you still somehow look long. Wearing things like that on your neck usually makes it look shorter but here you seem to have grown extra vertebra because that neck extension is wonderful.
Sprite: I see what you tried to do, but honestly its kind of a mess. I liked this shoot because it left a lot of space for creativity, so I don’t want to knock on your creativity here, but I want to focus on how the creative choices in this case took away from the modeling. The landscape is gorgeous, but why is there a giant claw game out in the middle of it? I could forgive this if it was for a high fashion editorial like photoshoot, but the lighting, pose, and clothing choices were all not high fashion. Also, the missing leg and foot really hurt this photo for me.
MissKant: Ok I see a well executed theme here. You for sure give Barbie in your styling. I enjoy the pose for sure, but since this is a barbie theme I think there was an opportunity to pose like a real barbie. This is an example of what some of the other girls needed to do when you are posing in a way that could be revealing, you turned your booty away from the camera just enough for us not to get a shot up there, although I would like to see more coverage on the clothing there.
Kaliminaj: The judges asked you to do something that would make you stand out and be more exciting, well girl you DID THAT. This is hands down top photo for me. The pose is amazing, the styling and theme are unique, and the hair looking like a lion’s mane right next to the lion plushy is chef’s kiss! You look longer than that giraffe! Sure if you turn the photo the other way the face doesn’t look as good, but that’s not the way the photo is suppose to be viewed and to have been able to serve this look hanging upside down shows great versatility. In very other photo you have been getting “just a pretty girl” comments, so this shows that you can give a little bit of an ugly face yet still make it look stunning.
Akaliuchis: I see what you did with the theme and I don’t hate it. I don’t think the outfit is high fashion, but the pose is good and the movement is good. I would have liked to see what this could have been with a more high fashion outfit.
Manyomash: I think we could have been cropped a bit closer and still get the concept here. Since so many other girls did this theme it does lose a little bit of the wow factor, but of the doll ones you definitely have executed better than most. The missing hand and half of your other foot are just some small details that take away some points for me, but overall still a strong photo.

Thank you goomy
Unlike your top 3...
I really appreciate your feedback, but my look is very detailed
My concept is quite remarkable: a claw machine with a space-themed design, featuring my model wearing a silver outfit with galactic details and floating due to the machine's gravity, or, for those who like to think too much, she would appear to be being abducted.
Goomybear
I understand that you judged them all as if they were haute couture, but the challenge didn't require haute couture; it was a very open-themed challenge. The brief is on Discord!
Maris I read the brief. I also make a photo each week too so I understand how hard they can be.
Goomybear did you struggle with this prompt too king because it was an absolute nightmare to work with
BRAT I actually loved it! goomybear. add me on discord and I will send you mine
Maris Also, high fashion and couture are not the same thing.
Goomybear I know they're the same thing, but at no point did she say it would be mandatory, only that it could be or not!
Maris but this is a modeling competition..... all photos are judged on the fashion.
TYSM!!!!!!!!!!!!
