🌲ROUND 34 - 07:59h🌲 Nobody would believe you. __________________________________________ Marquis and Joji stand side by side in the Static Field. The transmission towers loom overhead. Strange distortions ripple through the air while the constant static hum vibrates across the landscape. Ahead of them, the Exit Gate stands open. Between them and freedom stands Slenderman. Joji: So... any ideas? Marquis: Run really fast? Joji: Great. I was hoping for a smart plan. Several black tentacles unfurl from Slenderman's back. Marquis immediately notices something. The creature isn't looking at Joji. It's looking directly at him. Marquis: He wants me. The tentacles lash forward. Marquis shoves Joji aside. Joji hits the ground as the tentacles wrap around Marquis's torso and lift him into the air. Joji: MARQUIS! The static becomes deafening. Marquis struggles as more tentacles coil around his arms and legs. Slenderman slowly approaches. Marquis: JOJI, GO! Joji: I AM NOT LEAVING YOU! Marquis: Then we are both gonna die! I SAID GO! Joji starts running toward the Exit Gate, tears forming in his eyes. Marquis smiles. Marquis: Is that all you've got? Another tentacle wraps around Marquis' neck. Then sickening crack echoes across the field. Marquis' body goes limp. A few steps before the Exit Gate, Joji stops and turns around. Joji: No... Apparently satisfied, Slenderman grabs Marquis's body and hurls it at Joji. He barely manages to jump aside as Marquis crashes into the ground beside him. Marquis doesn't move. Joji looks from the gate to Marquis. The Exit Gate is right there, just a few steps away. The static grows louder and Slenderman begins advancing. For a moment he considers running , but instead, he drops to his knees beside him. Joji: Marquis! Nothing. Joji: MARQUIS! Marquis slowly opens one eye. Marquis: Why are you yelling? Joji: BECAUSE YOU NEED TO STAND THE FUCK UP! Joji immediately grabs Marquis by the arm. Marquis struggles to stand up. Slenderman realizes his mistake and ultimately grows taller. HE moves his tentacles immediately and sends them toward the boys. Marquis: I think several parts of me are broken. Joji: Then run with the parts that aren't! One of the tentacles almost catches Joji's ankle, when the two stumble through the Exit Gate together and crash onto the ground on the other side. Marquis: Holy mother.. Joji: That was so close! The two boys start laughing as the ink on their Pages fades. Joji: What are you thinking of doing after this? Marquis: Honestly? I would try modeling. Far behind them, Slenderman stands motionless among the transmission towers. Watching. Together, Marquis and Joji stand up and walk into the morning fog beyond the Exit Gate. Marquis and Joji have escaped The Forest. __________________________________________ Somewhere on the outside world, a recorder clicks on. A figure sits across from a young woman. ?: For the record, state your name. Arahna: Arahna. ?: And you're saying twenty-two people entered a forest? Arahna sits silently for a moment. Arahna: Twenty-two entered. ?: How many came out? Arahna looks down. Arahna: I don't know. I was the first to make it out. ?: And you didn't come back to help them? __________________________________________ In a different room, a figure slides a photograph across the table. An aerial image of a forest. ?: We searched every acre. Elara Voss: And? ?: We found nothing. Elara smiles. Elara Voss: That's because you're looking for a forest. ?: What does that mean? And what is that key that you had with you? Elara Voss: I wish I knew... ?: And why number #13 ? Elara: I SAID I DON'T KNOW! A paper cup of coffee sits untouched in front of her. ?: Did you see whoever attacked the others? Lemanjá laughs softly. Lemanjá: Chico, If I tell you, you'll think I'm crazy. ?: Try me. A fugure places ten blank pages on the table. ?: These were found in your possession. Containment stares at them. Once they had been covered in messages, now they are completely blank. ?: What are they? Containment slowly shakes his head. Containment: Proof. ?: Proof of what? __________________________________________ ?: Let me get this straight. A ghost skeleton saved your life. Paul : Correct. ?: After speaking to you through a grave. Paul: Correct. ?: Because you poured vodka on her corpse. Paul: That's the important part, yes. Paul smiles. Paul: You don't believe me. ?: Not even a little. __________________________________________ A figure stands across Joji. ?: Are you considering yourself lucky? Joji blinks. ?: You need to answer the question. Joji: I watched good people being killed, how is that being lucky? ?: But somehow you were never directly attacked by anything.. Marquis: That's what the doctors said. ?: According to this, half your ribcage was fractured. Marquis: Sounds accurate. ?: You should barely be able to walk. Marquis shrugs. Marquis: Yet somehow everyone keeps making me walk. ?: Who did this to you?
